It’s time to break up with social and focus on strategies you actually enjoy.
Early in my entrepreneurial journey, I focused almost entirely on social media to market my business. At the time, I thought it would be an easy way to get my message out and attract clients.
Boy, was I wrong!
While creating Instagram posts, stories, and IGTV videos (Reels weren’t a thing yet) was relatively easy, they didn’t lead to consults or clients.
And I wasted my precious time creating content for a marketing channel that just wasn’t suited for me. I like to tell stories and can be long-winded, so short-form content is challenging for me to create.
This misconception that social media is an easy way to grow your business has repeated itself in the women I’ve coached.
Typically, most want to try social media until they realize it’s not doing anything for them. Social platforms are oversaturated; you have to rely on the algorithm to show your content to your followers, and it’s hard to stand out amongst a sea of professional creators.
